As a biology graduate, Eddie Hallam has always had a keen interest in nature. He is an award winning nature reserve warden and former wildlife park director. Eddie began by carving birds in wood, but found that sculpting gave him greater flexibility and freedom. Generally his subject matter is British birds and mammals which he is able to observe and sketch in the wild, remote and sometimes uninhabited outlying islands off the British coast. A particular expedition to the islands of St Kilda fuelled a desire to sculpt a range of seabirds and cast them in bronze. It is through his artwork that Eddie hopes to generate interest and support for wildlife and its continued conservation. |
