Overview

Jeremy Hammick was born in Dorset in 1956. He studied at Bournemouth College of Art and later in Florence under Patrick Hamilton. Jeremy's watercolour paintings reflect his relationship with, and passion for, two contrasting though equally beautiful places; West Dorset, where he lives, and Kenya, where he has been a regular visitor for the past twenty-five years, often spending months at a time there.

Jeremy prefers to paint from life and is drawn back time and again to the same themes; the sky and the light. With his delicate brushwork and subtle palette he captures the atmosphere of a particular setting beautifully. A major influence on him is the work of JWM Turner and Jeremy draws on traditional watercolour methods to capture the grandeur of the African landscape, and the more intimate beauty of the British Isles.

He has exhibited widely in the USA, Africa and the UK, including regular solo exhibitions in London. Commissions for landscapes and house portraits have taken him all over the British Isles and Europe.
