The Continent, the Grand Tour, Impressionism; words that stir the imagination evoking a world of warm colours, great art, civilisation and beauty. Indeed before the 20th century British artists looked to the continent for inspiration and many such as Holbein and Van Dyke came to these provincial shores to paint.
Tim Scott Bolton’s continental ramblings started early; adventurous parents each summer travelled throughout Europe from Norway to the Peloponnese in a decrepit Bedford van. This travel bug has remained and Tim with family and friends has spent long leisurely days over many years in olive groves, vineyards or by an azure sea always with a paintbrush in hand. You see here a selection of work done for his own pleasure and is a very personal view of places he has enjoyed and he painted for no other reason than that he wanted to do so. I hope you agree this joy in the making sparkles through in these pictures.
