Philip Lawson Johnston

Philip Lawson Johnston has been a hand-engraver of glass for over 38 years. In January 2009 he was granted a Royal Warrant to be Hand-Engraver of Glass to Her Majesty The Queen and he is also an Associate Fellow of the Guild of Glass Engravers.
Self-taught, Philip’s subject matter ranges widely, from heraldry, inscriptions, company logos and buildings to portraits of people, horses, dogs and biblical subjects. It is especially wildlife scenes and floral designs, inspired by his love of the natural world, which he particularly enjoys. He engraves on all manner of glassware from wine glasses, decanters, vases and centrepiece bowls etc., to larger-scale doors, windows, panels and tabletops.
Philip Lawson Johnston's intention is “to create on glass designs that not only are pleasing to the eye and accurate in what they portray, but also reflect in some way the care and attention to detail of the Creator, as observed in the world around us.”
